I was out in Seattle last week on business and had Saturday evening free to attend the Seattle Kinfolk event, The Art of Camp Cooking & Grilling. I suppose it was a little strange to attend a community gathering when I planned to hop on the plane the next day, but I’m not usually one for customary. The event was centered around how to cook an entire meal over the open flames of a grill. We met on a small beach in Golden Gardens and shared food together as the sun set and the air chilled. I was a tad bummed that most of the cooking and eating was through by the time the light was at it’s best, but at last there’s always next time. I’ve hosted a few Kinfolkesque events myself, and this gathering gave me ideas of possibly hosting one in my neck of the woods.
